Grant of License: State clearly that the buyer is purchasing a non-exclusive license to use the sounds, not buying the copyright to the sounds themselves.

  • Allowed Usage (For-Profit & Non-Profit): Specify where the sounds can be used. For example, beat loops and samples are typically allowed for independent streaming, beat-making, and self-released projects.
  • Major Label Placements: Include a clause for major placements (e.g., if a buyer uses your loop for a major artist). This usually dictates that the publishing and master royalties will be renegotiated and split fairly with you.
  • Prohibitions (Resale & Sharing): Strictly forbid the buyer from reselling, redistributing, or leasing the kit, or including your loops in another producer’s beat kit.
  • Synchronization & Sync Licensing: Clarify whether buyers can use your sounds in video games, TV shows, or films without clearing it with you first.
  • Credit Requirements: Require the buyer to credit you if they use your specific loops or melodies in a commercially successful song.
